The Miles family filed a lawsuit against the hospital, resulting in a settlement agreement that included a payment of $300,000, which is the statutory limit under Florida law, and an additional $200,000 to be paid as part of this bill.

The bill authorizes the South Broward Hospital District to appropriate $200,000 to compensate the Miles family for the injuries and damages sustained by E.E.M. It also establishes that the total compensation from both the settlement and this bill is intended to cover all present and future claims related to the incident.
