The bill amends section 121.055 of the Florida Statutes to make participation in the Senior Management Service Class of the Florida Retirement System compulsory for certain legal positions within the Criminal Conflict and Civil Regional Counsel. Specifically, starting July 1, 2020, this requirement applies to appointed criminal conflict and civil regional counsel, as well as assistant regional counsel chiefs, administrative directors, and chief investigators. Additionally, effective July 1, 2025, the requirement will extend to each district's assistant regional counsel supervisors. The bill also allows members of the Senior Management Service Class to purchase additional retirement credit for service dating back to October 1, 2007.

Furthermore, the bill appropriates $950,000 in recurring funds from the General Revenue Fund for the 2025-2026 fiscal year to support retirement benefits for the specified positions within the Criminal Conflict and Civil Regional Counsel offices. The act is set to take effect on July 1, 2025.
