This bill amends chapter 74-565 of the Laws of Florida, specifically revising the definition of "building official" within Palm Beach County. The updated definition specifies that a "building official" is an individual responsible for the administration and enforcement of the Florida Building Code, who must now possess a Florida Building Code Administrator certification and be serving in a municipality or county. The previous requirement that the individual be a full-time employee of the municipality or county has been removed, along with the stipulation regarding their election district.

Additionally, the bill changes the terminology from "election district" to "commission district" and clarifies that the building official must be nominated from the respective commission district where the jurisdiction is located. The act is set to take effect upon becoming law.
