This bill amends section 106.147 of the Florida Statutes to prohibit campaign-related telephone calls and text messages to voters who have indicated they do not consent to such communications. It establishes a clear process for voters to communicate their lack of consent, allowing them to indicate this during a phone call or by responding "Stop" to a text message. Upon receiving such an indication, candidates, persons, or organizations must immediately cease all communications with the voter.

Additionally, the bill empowers voters to take legal action against those who fail to comply with this requirement, allowing them to seek an injunction in a court of competent jurisdiction. If successful, the voter is entitled to reasonable attorney fees and costs. The bill also specifies penalties for willful violations, classifying them as a misdemeanor of the first degree. The changes will take effect on July 1, 2025.
