This bill amends section 627.7011 of the Florida Statutes, focusing on the notification requirements for homeowners insurance policyholders. It introduces a new subsection (7) that mandates insurers to provide at least 45 days advance written notice to policyholders regarding any cancellation, nonrenewal, or rate change of their homeowners insurance policy. The notice must be mailed to the policyholder's last known address and, if an email address is available, also sent via email.
Additionally, the bill specifies that if the cancellation is due to nonpayment of premium, a minimum of 10 days written notice must be provided, along with the reason for cancellation. However, this written notice is not required for policies where premiums are paid monthly. The bill is set to take effect on July 1, 2025.
