The bill proposes the creation of a United States Naval Academy specialty license plate in Florida, as outlined in the newly added subsection (136) to section 320.08058 of the Florida Statutes. The Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles is tasked with developing the plate, which will feature the approved colors and design, including the word "Florida" at the top and the phrase "Go Navy, Beat Army!" at the bottom.
Additionally, the bill stipulates that the annual use fees collected from the sale of this license plate will be distributed to the Jacksonville Chapter of the Naval Academy Alumni Association. This chapter is permitted to allocate up to 10 percent of the fees for administrative costs related to the promotion and marketing of the plate, while the remaining funds must be used to provide grants to charitable organizations that support veterans and their families, focusing on areas such as food, shelter, service animals, and support for children of servicemembers killed in action. The act is set to take effect on October 1, 2025.
