The bill acknowledges the tragic circumstances surrounding E.E.M.'s medical treatment, which included a failure to properly evaluate and diagnose a small bowel obstruction that ultimately led to severe health complications and his untimely death at the age of seven. The bill outlines a settlement agreement reached between the Miles family and the hospital district, which includes a total compensation of $500,000, of which $300,000 has already been paid.
