1 A bill to be entitled
2 An act relating to ballot specifications for judicial
3 offices; amending s. 105.041, F.S.; revising the
4 judicial retention question that appears on a ballot
5 to include the name of the Governor who appointed the
6 justice or judge; providing an effective date.

8 Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

10 Section 1. Subsection (2) of section 105.041, Florida
11 Statutes, is amended to read:
12 105.041 Form of ballot.—
13 (2) LISTING OF CANDIDATES.—The order of nonpartisan offices
14 appearing on the ballot shall be determined by the Department of
15 State. The names of candidates for election to each nonpartisan
16 office shall be listed in alphabetical order. With respect to
17 retention of justices and judges, the question “Shall Justice
18 (or Judge) (name of justice or judge), appointed by Governor
19 (name of Governor who appointed the justice or judge, if
20 applicable), of the (name of the court) be retained in office?”
21 shall appear on the ballot in alphabetical order and thereafter
22 the words “Yes” and “No.”
23 Section 2. This act shall take effect July 1, 2024.
