2 An act relating to AMIkids, Inc.; creating s. 985.176,
3 F.S.; authorizing the Department of Juvenile Justice,
4 the Department of Education, and the Department of
5 Children and Families to contract with AMIkids, Inc.,
6 for specified services; providing an effective date.

8 Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

10 Section 1. Section 985.176, Florida Statutes, is created
11 to read:
12 985.176 AMIkids, Inc.—As authorized by and consistent with
13 funding appropriated in the General Appropriations Act, the
14 department, the Department of Education, and the Department of
15 Children and Families may contract, in accordance with ss.
16 394.457 and 985.644 and the statutes governing the Department of
17 Education and the Department of Children and Families, with
18 AMIkids, Inc., a nonprofit organization exempt from taxation
19 pursuant to s. 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code, to
20 provide alternatives to institutionalization or commitment for
21 young men and women through services, including, but not limited
22 to, education, behavior modification, skills development, mental
23 health, workforce development, family functioning, and advocacy.
24 Section 2. This act shall take effect July 1, 2024.
