1 A bill to be entitled
2 An act relating to building code requirements for roof
3 repair; amending s. 553.73, F.S.; providing that the
4 Florida Building Code may not require the entire
5 roofing system or roof section of certain existing
6 buildings or structures to be repaired, replaced, or
7 recovered to meet the Florida Building Code under
8 certain circumstances; providing requirements for the
9 Florida Building Commission; providing an effective
10 date.

12 Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

14 Section 1. Subsection (21) is added to section 553.73,
15 Florida Statutes, to read:
16 553.73 Florida Building Code.—
17 (21) The Florida Building Code may not require that the
18 entire existing roofing system or roof section of an existing
19 building or structure be repaired, replaced, or recovered in
20 compliance with the applicable Florida Building Code in effect
21 at the time of such repair, replacement, or recovery unless more
22 than 35 percent of the total roofing system or roof section of
23 the existing building or structure must be repaired, replaced,
24 or recovered. The Florida Building Commission shall adopt this
25 exception by rule and incorporate it in the Florida Building
