Mayor Muriel Bowser has submitted a request to the Council of the District of Columbia to reprogram $706,908.31 of Fiscal Year 2026 Local Funds within the Department of Housing and Community Development (DHCD). This reprogramming is necessary to cover rent costs that were initially expected to be funded through federal indirect cost recovery, which has been impacted by a federal administrative cap. The funds will be reallocated from the Affordable Housing division to the Agency Management Program division to ensure that rent obligations are met.

The Chief Financial Officer, Glen Lee, has reviewed the mayor's request and confirmed that the reprogramming will not adversely affect DHCD's budget or the District's financial plan. The funds are available due to vacancy savings from several unfilled positions within the DHCD, which have resulted in a surplus that can be redirected to cover the rent costs. The CFO has expressed no objections to this reprogramming request, emphasizing its necessity to maintain the agency's operations without delays in services or programs.
