The Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority Fiscal Year 2027 to 2032 Dedicated Funding Grant Agreement Emergency Approval Act of 2026 authorizes a multiyear funding agreement between the District of Columbia and the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA). This agreement will provide capital funding for the state-of-good-repair needs of the Metrorail and Metrobus systems over a six-year period, from October 1, 2026, to September 30, 2032. The total funding amount is capped at $1,071,000,000, with an annual limit of $178,500,000.

The act is enacted on an emergency basis and will take effect upon approval by the Mayor or, if vetoed, upon the Council's override of that veto. It is designed to ensure that the necessary funding is available to maintain and improve the transit systems in the District of Columbia, thereby supporting public transportation infrastructure and services. The act will remain in effect for no longer than 90 days, in accordance with the provisions for emergency acts outlined in the District of Columbia Home Rule Act.
