The Council of the District of Columbia has passed a ceremonial resolution to honor Laurice Gadson Redhead on her eightieth birthday, recognizing her extensive contributions to education, faith, civic engagement, and community service both in the District and beyond. Born on July 2, 1946, in Washington, DC, Ms. Redhead is an alumna of Holy Comforter School and a graduate of Howard University. She has been an active member of St. Augustine Catholic Church and has participated in various cemetery rededication committees in Georgetown.

In addition to her religious and community involvement, Ms. Redhead has made significant contributions to education by mentoring and teaching students in the District of Columbia Public Schools and at Howard University. She is also a longstanding member of the Association for the Study of African American Life and History and the DC History Center, where she has volunteered as a docent at the National Museum of African American History and Culture. The resolution celebrates her lifelong commitment to these causes and takes effect immediately.
