The resolution honors Laurice Gadson Redhead on the occasion of her eightieth birthday, recognizing her significant contributions to education, faith, civic engagement, and community service in the District of Columbia and beyond. Born on July 2, 1946, in Washington, DC, Ms. Redhead is an alumna of Holy Comforter School and a graduate of Howard University. She has been an active member of St. Augustine Catholic Church and has participated in various cemetery rededication committees in Georgetown.
Additionally, Ms. Redhead has been involved with the Association for the Study of African American Life and History and the DC History Center, volunteering as a Docent at the National Museum of African American History and Culture. Her dedication to education is evident through her mentoring of District of Columbia Public School students and her work with Howard University students. The resolution celebrates her lifelong commitment to these causes and will take effect immediately upon publication in the District of Columbia Register.
