Mayor Muriel Bowser has submitted a request to the Council of the District of Columbia to reprogram $40,000 of Fiscal Year 2026 Local Funds within the District of Columbia Public Schools (DCPS) specifically for Jackson-Reed High School. The funds are intended to cover overtime budgeting for administrative leave, staffing requirements, and coverage for extracurricular events. This reprogramming is necessary to ensure that the school remains within its overtime budget and does not exceed it by the end of the fiscal year.

The Office of the Chief Financial Officer (OCFO) has reviewed the Mayor's request and confirmed that the reprogramming will not adversely impact the DCPS budget or the District's financial plan. The funds will be reallocated from the Administrative Premium account to the Overtime Pay account, and while this reprogramming is below the $500,000 threshold requiring Council approval, it is noted that a previous reprogramming from DCPS has already been approved, resulting in a cumulative change exceeding that threshold. The OCFO has expressed no objections to this request, emphasizing the importance of timely action to avoid potential budget pressures later in the fiscal year.
