The Rhode Island Avenue Corridor Long-Term Lease Adjustment Emergency Amendment Act of 2026 amends the Deputy Mayor for Planning and Economic Development Limited Grant-Making Authority Act of 2012. Specifically, it reduces the long-term lease period required for eligibility to the Rhode Island Avenue Support Grant Program from 10 years to 5 years. Additionally, it stipulates that there must be a minimum of 3 years remaining on an existing lease as of the closing date of the application period.

This emergency legislation is designed to facilitate access to grant funding for properties along the Rhode Island Avenue corridor by lowering the lease duration requirement. The act will take effect upon approval by the Mayor and will remain in effect for no longer than 90 days, in accordance with the emergency provisions of the District of Columbia Home Rule Act.
