Mayor Muriel Bowser has submitted a request to the Council of the District of Columbia to reprogram $917,000 of Fiscal Year 2026 Local Funds within the Office of the State Superintendent of Education (OSSE). This reprogramming is intended to support a sub-grant to DC Public Schools for High-Impact Tutoring (HIT) services. The funds will be reallocated from the Grants and Gratuities account to various other accounts, including Extra Duty Pay, Educational Supplies, and Professional Services, to better align the budget with the needs of the HIT program.

The Chief Financial Officer, Glen Lee, has reviewed the Mayor's request and confirmed that the reprogramming will not adversely impact OSSE's budget or the District's financial plan. The reallocation is necessary to ensure that DCPS students receive high-impact tutoring services, which are considered crucial for academic success and attendance improvement. The request does not restore any previously authorized budget cuts or establish new programs that were denied by the Council, and it is expected to have no negative impact on other programs or services.
