Mayor Muriel Bowser has submitted a request to the Council of the District of Columbia to reprogram $697,291.43 of Fiscal Year 2026 Special Purpose Revenue Funds within the Department of Public Works (DPW). This reprogramming is necessary to support the day-to-day operations of the Fleet Management Administration, specifically to cover increased fuel costs for the University of the District of Columbia and the DC Water and Sewer Authority. The funds will be reallocated from the Other Services and Charges account to the Energy, Communications, and Building Rentals account to ensure that all expenditures related to fuel usage are adequately funded.
The Office of the Chief Financial Officer has reviewed the Mayor's request and confirmed that the reprogramming will not adversely impact the DPW's budget or the District's financial plan. The reprogramming is intended to restore the fuel budget to its previous level from FY 2025, ensuring that the Fleet Management Administration can fulfill its purchase orders and pay vendors throughout the fiscal year. The request has been submitted in accordance with the Reprogramming Policy Act of 1980, and the OCFO has expressed no objections to the proposed reallocation of funds.
