Mayor Muriel Bowser has nominated Chris Morrison to serve as an architect member of the Historic Preservation Review Board, filling a vacancy left by Patrick Williams. This nomination adheres to the Confirmation Act of 1978 and the Historic Landmark and Historic Protection Act of 1978. Morrison, a Ward 2 resident with over 30 years of experience in architecture, historic preservation, and planning, has received multiple accolades, including the D.C. Mayor's Award for Excellence in Historic Preservation. His extensive involvement in various boards and commitment to design excellence and community engagement further underscore his qualifications for this role.
The resolution confirms Morrison's appointment for the remainder of an unexpired term ending July 21, 2028, and will take effect immediately upon adoption by the Council of the District of Columbia. Alongside Morrison, Lauren McHale and Timothy Thomas have also been nominated for the Historic Preservation Review Board. Morrison's background includes serving as the Managing Principal at Perkins&Will and leading numerous award-winning projects. The legal sufficiency review by the Office of the General Counsel to the Mayor has deemed the nominations legally unobjectionable, emphasizing the nominees' qualifications and contributions, particularly Morrison's expertise in design and preservation, which align with the board's mission to protect the District's historic resources.
