The Prearrest Diversion Task Force Recommendations Temporary Amendment Act of 2025 proposes amendments to the Criminal Justice Coordinating Council for the District of Columbia Establishment Act of 2001. Specifically, it changes the deadline for the Prearrest Diversion Task Force to issue initial recommendations for the prearrest diversion of certain misdemeanor offenses and categories of persons from July 2025 to July 31, 2026. This adjustment is made by amending subsections (g) and (h) of section 1507 of the existing law.

Additionally, the bill amends Title 20 of the District of Columbia Official Code to clarify the terminology used in legal notices. It replaces the phrase "legal periodical of general circulation in the District" with "legal periodical or newspaper of general circulation in the District" in multiple sections (20-323(a), 20-343(a), and 20-704(a)). This change aims to ensure that notices related to formal probate and the appointment of foreign personal representatives are adequately communicated to interested parties, creditors, and unknown heirs. The act will take effect following approval by the Mayor and a 60-day congressional review period, expiring after 225 days.
