The Language Access Rulemaking Emergency Amendment Act of 2025 amends the Language Access Act of 2004 to empower the Office of Human Rights to adopt rules and regulations for the implementation of the act. Specifically, it adds a new subsection (c) to Section 6 of the Language Access Act, which mandates that the Mayor issue rules to implement the provisions of the act in accordance with the District of Columbia Administrative Procedure Act.
This act is applicable retroactively from June 19, 2004, and will take effect upon approval by the Mayor or, if vetoed, following a Council override. The act is designed as an emergency measure and will remain in effect for no longer than 90 days, in compliance with the emergency act provisions of the District of Columbia Home Rule Act.
