Mayor Muriel Bowser has submitted a request to the Council of the District of Columbia to reprogram $850,000 of Fiscal Year 2025 Local funds within the Office of the State Superintendent of Education (OSSE). The reprogramming aims to allocate these funds to support the Sustainability Grant, specifically to cover costs associated with Full-Time Equivalents (FTE) and contractual services for the District of Columbia Public Schools (DCPS). The request is in accordance with the Reprogramming Policy Act of 1980 and is intended to ensure that the budget aligns properly to meet the programmatic needs of the school division.

The Chief Financial Officer, Glen Lee, has reviewed the Mayor's request and confirmed that the reprogramming will not adversely impact OSSE's budget or the District's financial plan. The funds will be reallocated from OSSE's Agency Management Program to the Secondary Education division to support the necessary staffing and services for the Sustainability Grant. This reprogramming does not restore any previously authorized budget cuts or establish new programs that were denied by the Council, ensuring compliance with existing budgetary guidelines.
