Mayor Muriel Bowser has requested the Council of the District of Columbia to approve the reprogramming of $999,432 in FY 2025 Capital Funds from the University of the District of Columbia (UDC) to the Department of General Services (DGS). This reallocation is essential for the structural restoration of underground garage columns at UDC's Van Ness Campus, which is a critical component for the upcoming DC Archives construction project. The funds will be redirected from the Van Ness Exterior/Plaza Paver Restoration project to ensure that DGS can complete the necessary restoration work before the demolition of the future DC Archives site.

The Office of the Chief Financial Officer has reviewed the request and confirmed that the reprogramming will not negatively impact the budgets of UDC, DGS, or the District's financial plan. The funds are available and were initially designated for structural garage repairs, making this reprogramming vital to prevent delays and additional costs for the DC Archives project. The resolution, which totals $15,567,180.53, includes $11,567,180.53 for various expenses related to the restoration work, and it seeks the Council's favorable action in accordance with the Reprogramming Policy Act of 1980 to ensure the safety and structural integrity of the campus facilities.
