Mayor Muriel Bowser has submitted a request to the Council of the District of Columbia to reprogram $1,072,008.86 of Fiscal Year 2025 Local Funds within the Department of Housing and Community Development (DHCD). This reprogramming is necessary to align the budget with approved waivers and to support various programs within the agency, including the Housing Preservation and Housing Regulation divisions. The funds will be reallocated from several account groups to ensure that DHCD can meet its programmatic needs without adversely impacting the overall budget or the District's financial plan.

The Chief Financial Officer, Glen Lee, has reviewed the Mayor's request and indicated that the reprogramming will not have negative consequences for DHCD or the District's financial standing. The funds are available due to a spending freeze implemented by the Mayor's Order, and if the reprogramming is delayed, DHCD may face challenges in completing essential modifications to the Rent Control database and other critical programs. The reallocation of funds is expected to proceed without delays to any programs or services.
