Mayor Muriel Bowser has submitted a request to the Council of the District of Columbia to reprogram $495,000 of FY 2025 Capital Funds within the District of Columbia Public Schools (DCPS) budget. The funds are intended to be redirected from the Window Replacement project to the Major Repairs Project specifically for the door replacement at Kenilworth Elementary School. This reprogramming is necessary because the original project description for the Window Replacement did not include provisions for door replacements, despite the funds being allocated for that purpose.

The Chief Financial Officer, Glen Lee, has reviewed the Mayor's request and confirmed that the reprogramming will not adversely affect the budgets of DCPS or the Department of General Services (DGS). The reprogramming is below the $500,000 threshold that requires Council approval, but it is noted that cumulative changes to the Major Repairs Project have exceeded that amount this fiscal year. The reallocation of funds is crucial to ensure the timely completion of the door replacement, which is essential for the building's security and integrity.
