The Community Health Emergency Amendment Act of 2025 amends the District of Columbia Health Occupations Revision Act of 1985 and the Consent for Vaccination of Minors Amendment Act of 2022 to enhance the authority of healthcare providers in the District. Specifically, it allows these providers to order and administer immunizations based on guidelines from the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) or other competent medical and public health organizations designated by the Director of the Department of Health. This change is reflected in the amendments to Sections 102(11)(A) and 755(a-1) of the Health Occupations Revision Act, where the phrase "in accordance with the Centers for Disease Control and Preventions published guidelines and recommended immunization schedules" is replaced with a broader reference to the Advisory Committee and other designated organizations.
Additionally, the bill modifies the Consent for Vaccination of Minors Amendment Act by updating the language in Subsections (a) and (b)(1) to similarly include the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices and other competent organizations designated by the Director. The amendments aim to streamline the vaccination process and ensure that healthcare providers can respond effectively to public health needs. The act is set to take effect upon approval by the Mayor and will remain in effect for no longer than 90 days.
