The Medical Cannabis Conditional Licensure Extension Temporary Amendment Act of 2025 amends the Legalization of Marijuana for Medical Treatment Initiative of 1999 to extend the expiration dates of conditional licenses for various medical cannabis-related entities, including cultivation centers, retailers, and testing laboratories, by an additional year. Key changes include the amendment of Section 7, where the duration of a conditional license is increased from two years to three years, and the timeline for license approval is adjusted to allow for the full term of the conditional license rather than a fixed two-year period.
Additionally, the bill specifies that any one-year conditional license that was in effect as of December 17, 2024, and subsequently converted to a two-year license, will now automatically convert to a three-year license without incurring additional costs or requiring further approval from the Alcoholic Beverage Control (ABC) Board. The act is set to apply from June 28, 2025, and will remain in effect for 225 days following its approval by the Mayor and the completion of the congressional review period.
