The Personal Delivery Device Weight Limit Emergency Amendment Act of 2025 amends the Personal Delivery Device Act of 2018 to increase the weight limit for personal delivery devices (PDDs). Specifically, the bill repeals Section 2(8)(B) of the current law and introduces a new provision in Section 4(b) that establishes a maximum weight limit of 250 pounds for PDDs, excluding any property they may carry. Additionally, the Department may set a higher weight limit through rulemaking.

This emergency legislation is designed to address the evolving needs of personal delivery devices in the District of Columbia, ensuring they can operate effectively while adhering to safety regulations. The act will take effect upon approval by the Mayor and will remain in effect for a maximum of 90 days, in accordance with the emergency provisions outlined in the District of Columbia Home Rule Act.
