The "Let Students Attend Kindergarten Emergency Amendment Act of 2025" aims to amend compulsory school enrollment requirements in the District of Columbia to better accommodate students transitioning into kindergarten. The bill introduces provisions that exempt minors from certain enrollment requirements if they were living in another state and did not meet that state's age requirement for kindergarten enrollment, or if they are younger than six and enrolled in a five-day-per-week pre-kindergarten program. Additionally, it allows students who have not attended kindergarten and are under the age of six to enroll in kindergarten at the request of their parents or guardians for the school years 2025-2026 and 2026-2027.

Furthermore, the bill ensures that students who relied on prior communications from DC Public Schools regarding feeder pattern advancement are not disadvantaged, allowing them to advance to the next middle or high school in their feeder pattern regardless of boundary changes. It also specifies that students completing their terminal year at Hardy Middle School can choose between two high schools if they have a sibling attending one of them. The act is set to take effect upon approval by the Mayor and will remain in effect for no longer than 90 days.
