The "Let Students Attend Kindergarten Temporary Amendment Act of 2025" aims to amend compulsory school enrollment requirements in the District of Columbia for the school years 2025-2026 and 2026-2027. The bill stipulates that minors who were living in another state and did not meet that state's age requirement for kindergarten enrollment, as well as those who are younger than six and enrolled in a five-day-per-week pre-kindergarten program, will be exempt from certain enrollment requirements. Additionally, it allows students who have not attended kindergarten and have not reached the age of six by May 31 to enroll in kindergarten at the request of their parents or guardians.

The bill also includes provisions to ensure that students completing their terminal year at a feeder school can advance to the next middle or high school in their feeder pattern, regardless of boundary changes, and allows specific students from Hardy Middle School to choose between two high schools based on sibling attendance. The legislation is set to take effect following mayoral approval and a congressional review period, and it will expire after 225 days.
