Mayor Muriel Bowser has requested the reprogramming of $1,382,048.80 in FY 2025 Capital Funds from the Department of General Services (DGS) to the District of Columbia Public Schools (DCPS) and the Department of Parks and Recreation (DPR). This reallocation is aimed at funding essential HVAC mechanical system replacements at various facilities under the DCPS and DPR portfolios. The funds will be transferred from the DGS Critical Systems Replacement project to ensure that the budgeted capital is effectively utilized for its intended purpose, thereby enhancing temperature control and overall functionality in these facilities.
The Office of the Chief Financial Officer (OCFO) has reviewed the Mayor's request and confirmed that the reprogramming will not negatively impact the budgets of DGS, DCPS, or DPR, nor the District's financial plan. The reallocated funds will support specific projects, including the replacement of water heaters, compressors, and boilers at several schools and recreation centers. Timely reprogramming is crucial to avoid delays in necessary repairs, ensuring that the facilities operate efficiently and reducing the risk of future mechanical failures.
