Mayor Muriel Bowser has requested the reprogramming of $1,382,048.80 in FY 2025 Capital Funds from the Department of General Services (DGS) to the District of Columbia Public Schools (DCPS) and the Department of Parks and Recreation (DPR). This reallocation is aimed at funding essential HVAC mechanical system replacements at various facilities within the DCPS and DPR portfolios, including water heater and boiler replacements at schools and HVAC upgrades at recreation centers. The funds will be transferred from the DGS Critical Systems Replacement project to ensure they are utilized effectively for these critical upgrades.

The Office of the Chief Financial Officer (OCFO) has reviewed the Mayor's request and confirmed that the reprogramming will not negatively impact the budgets of DGS, DCPS, or DPR, nor the District's overall financial plan. The OCFO supports the reprogramming as it is crucial for maintaining reliable temperature control in the affected facilities and minimizing future repair interruptions. By reallocating these funds, the District can ensure timely replacements of critical HVAC systems, thereby enhancing operational efficiency and comfort in schools and recreation centers.
