This celebration aims to promote awareness and pride within the Black LGBTQIA+ community while addressing health disparities and supporting education and youth initiatives. As the oldest and one of the largest Black Pride events globally, DC Black Pride has inspired over 50 similar celebrations worldwide. The theme for this year's event is "BLACK PRIDE IS FREEDOM," emphasizing the importance of community gathering and advocacy against violence and discrimination. The resolution takes effect immediately, formally honoring Wanzer during this significant celebration.
