Mayor Muriel Bowser has requested the Council of the District of Columbia to reprogram $76,000 in Fiscal Year 2025 Local Funds for Kelly Miller Middle School within the District of Columbia Public Schools (DCPS). This reprogramming is aimed at enabling the school to make larger purchases through the PASS system by reallocating funds from the limited PCard Professional Services account to the General Supplies and Contractual Services accounts. The Office of the Chief Financial Officer (OCFO) has reviewed the request and confirmed that it will not negatively impact the overall DCPS budget or the District's financial plan.
Although the reprogramming amount is below the $500,000 threshold that would typically require Council approval, it is important to note that a previous reprogramming from DCPS has already been approved, resulting in a cumulative change that exceeds this threshold. The funds are available due to an over-allocation to the PCard at the beginning of the fiscal year, and this reallocation is crucial for ensuring that Kelly Miller Middle School can meet its financial obligations and fund necessary contracts for the current school year without delaying other programs or services.
