Mayor Muriel Bowser has requested the reprogramming of $76,000 in Fiscal Year 2025 Local Funds for Kelly Miller Middle School within the District of Columbia Public Schools (DCPS). This reallocation is aimed at enabling the school to make larger purchases through the PASS system by transferring funds from the PCard Professional Services account to the General Supplies and Contractual Services accounts. The Chief Financial Officer, Glen Lee, has reviewed the request and confirmed that it aligns with DCPS's budgetary needs without negatively impacting the overall financial plan.

Although the reprogramming amount is below the $500,000 threshold that requires Council approval, it is important to note that cumulative changes to the DCPS budget will exceed this threshold due to prior approved reprogramming. The Office of the Chief Financial Officer has indicated that the funds are available and necessary for the school to meet its contractual obligations for the current school year, ensuring that Kelly Miller Middle School can continue to operate effectively without delays in programs or services.
