The "Uniform College Athlete Name, Image, or Likeness Temporary Amendment Act of 2025" seeks to amend the Uniform College Athlete, Name, Image, or Likeness Act of 2022 by allowing institutions, conferences, or athletic associations to assist college athletes in selecting and arranging for name, image, or likeness (NIL) agents, as well as in collecting payments from third parties involved in NIL agreements. Additionally, the bill removes the existing prohibition against institutions or conferences providing compensation to college athletes for their NIL rights.
The bill also includes a provision to pause the applicability of expanded financial disclosure requirements for certain boards and commissions until January 1, 2026. It repeals subsection (e) of section 215, which likely contained the previous restrictions on compensation. The act will take effect after approval by the Mayor and a 30-day Congressional review period, and it is set to expire 225 days after its enactment.
