Over the years, he rose through the ranks, taking on various roles including Investigator, Detective, Sergeant, Lieutenant, Captain, Inspector, and ultimately Commander of the Fifth District and Assistant Chief of Patrol Services North. His career has been marked by significant contributions to crime reduction, with a notable 35% decrease in violent crime in 2024 under his leadership.

The resolution recognizes Altieri's unwavering dedication and leadership in serving the community, highlighting his numerous awards and accolades throughout his career, including Achievement Medals and the 2021 Crime Reduction Award. The Council expresses gratitude for his service and commitment to the safety and well-being of the District of Columbia, celebrating his retirement on May 3, 2025, alongside his wife, Dawnita Altieri. The resolution takes effect immediately.
