The On-Premises and On-Site Extended Hours Program Emergency Amendment Act of 2025 amends section 25-723 of the District of Columbia Official Code to allow the Alcoholic Beverage and Cannabis Board to extend the hours of operation, sales, service, and consumption of alcoholic beverages for cultural, sporting, or tourism-related events. The new provisions enable licensees with on-premises retailers licenses, manufacturers licenses with on-site sales and consumption permits, or temporary licenses to operate until 4:00 a.m. and for 24 hours a day, provided they register with the Board, pay a minimum fee of $100, and give written notice at least three days prior to the event.
Additionally, the Board is required to notify the Metropolitan Police Department 48 hours before the extended hours take effect and to publish notice of these extended hours in the District of Columbia Register and on the ABC's website. The fees collected from this registration will be deposited into the Alcoholic Beverage and Cannabis Administration Fund. The bill defines cultural events, sporting events, and tourism-related events to clarify the types of occasions that qualify for extended hours.
