Mayor Muriel Bowser has submitted a nomination for Mr. Stephen Lanning to serve as a public representative on the Apprenticeship Council, filling a vacant seat previously held by Quenton Horton. This nomination is in accordance with the Confirmation Act of 1978 and the Act for voluntary apprenticeship in the District of Columbia. Mr. Lanning, a resident of Ward 1, has extensive experience in labor consulting and union leadership, advocating for construction job training programs and improving working conditions for construction workers. His term is set to last until November 19, 2026.

The Council of the District of Columbia is being asked to confirm Mr. Lanning's appointment through a proposed resolution. The resolution outlines his qualifications and the legal sufficiency of the nomination has been reviewed and deemed unobjectionable by the Office of the General Counsel to the Mayor. Upon adoption of the resolution, a copy will be transmitted to both the nominee and the Office of the Mayor, with the resolution taking effect immediately.
