The resolution honors Coach David "Tee" Johnson for achieving his 100th win as the head coach of the Jackson-Reed High School boys' varsity basketball team, a milestone he reached faster than any previous coach in the school's history. Since his appointment in August 2021, Coach Johnson has led the team to an impressive overall record of 101-22, secured two DCIAA championships, and developed numerous players who have advanced to collegiate basketball programs. His leadership has also earned the team national recognition, including a ranking as high as No. 22 in the Score Book Live/Sports Illustrated Power 25.
In addition to his high school coaching, Coach Johnson is involved with Team Durant, an AAU basketball program, further contributing to youth basketball development in the D.C. area. The resolution expresses the Council's recognition of his exceptional leadership, commitment to excellence, and significant impact on the players and the community. It concludes with congratulations for his achievements and takes effect immediately.
