The On-Premises and On-Site Extended Hours Program Amendment Act of 2025 amends section 25-723 of the District of Columbia Official Code to permit the Alcoholic Beverage and Cannabis Board to extend the hours of operation, sales, service, and consumption of alcoholic beverages for registered licensees during cultural, sporting, or tourism-related events. Licensees can extend their hours until 4:00 a.m. and operate 24 hours a day, provided they register with the Board, pay a minimum fee of $100, and give written notice at least three days prior to the event. The Board is also required to notify the Metropolitan Police Department 48 hours before the extended hours take effect.
The resolution defines cultural events as gatherings that showcase various cultures through artistic expression, sporting events as organized athletic competitions, and tourism-related events as significant festivals or conventions that attract visitors from outside a 50-mile radius. Fees collected from this program will be deposited into the Alcoholic Beverage and Cannabis Administration Fund. The act will take effect after being approved by the Mayor and undergoing a 30-day congressional review period.
