The On-Premises and On-Site Extended Hours Program Amendment Act of 2025 seeks to amend Section 25-723 of the District of Columbia Official Code to grant the Alcoholic Beverage Control (ABC) Board the authority to extend the hours of operation, sales, service, and consumption of alcoholic beverages for sporting events or any other events deemed appropriate by the Board. This amendment replaces the previous restriction that allowed extensions only during postseason games involving a District professional sports team.
Additionally, the bill allows registered licensees in the extension of hours program to sell, serve, and permit the consumption of alcoholic beverages until 4 a.m. and operate 24 hours a day. The bill also repeals a specific paragraph related to the previous restrictions on hours. The act will take effect following the Mayor's approval and a 30-day Congressional review period.
