The On-Premises and On-Site Extended Hours Program Amendment Act of 2025 amends section 25-723 of the District of Columbia Official Code to grant the Alcoholic Beverage and Cannabis Board the authority to extend the hours of operation, sales, service, and consumption of alcoholic beverages for specific events. These events include cultural, sporting, or tourism-related gatherings, provided that the licensees register with the Board, pay a minimum registration fee of $100, and give written notice at least three days prior to the event. The Board is also required to notify the Metropolitan Police Department 48 hours before the extended hours take effect and to publish notice of these extended hours in the District of Columbia Register.
Additionally, the bill defines key terms related to the events eligible for extended hours, including "cultural event," "sporting event," and "tourism-related event." The fees collected from the registration process will be deposited into the Alcoholic Beverage and Cannabis Administration Fund. This legislation aims to enhance the vibrancy of the District's cultural and tourism landscape while ensuring proper oversight and notification to relevant authorities.
