IN THE COUNCIL OF THE DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA
November 26, 2024
To recognize, honor, and celebrate the Coalition for Nonprofit Housing & Economic
Development (CNHED) on the occasion of its 25th anniversary and commend its
outstanding contributions to affordable housing and economic development in the District
of Columbia.
WHEREAS, the Coalition for Nonprofit Housing & Economic Development (CNHED)
was established in 1999 through the merger of the Coalition for Nonprofit Housing Development
and the DC Community Development Coalition, uniting 2 powerful voices for community
development in the District of Columbia;
WHEREAS, CNHED has grown from a small coalition into a major force in the District,
now representing over 140 organizational members, including nonprofit and for-profit affordable
housing developers, housing counseling agencies, small business technical assistance providers,
and resident service providers;
WHEREAS, CNHED has been instrumental in advocating for and securing crucial
funding for affordable housing in the District, including consistent support for the Housing
Production Trust Fund, which has become a national model for local housing trust funds;
WHEREAS, CNHED has demonstrated exceptional leadership through its capacity-
building programs and by bringing together diverse stakeholders to strengthen the community
development sector and address the District's housing and economic development challenges;
WHEREAS, CNHED has played a crucial role in supporting small business development
and entrepreneurship in the District through its Small Business Policy Project and other
initiatives that promote economic opportunity;
WHEREAS, CNHED has consistently advocated for racial equity in housing and
economic development, working to address historical inequities and promote inclusive growth in
the District;

WHEREAS, CNHED continues to serve as a trusted resource for policymakers,
providing critical data and analysis to inform decision-making on housing and economic
development issues.
RESOLVED, BY THE COUNCIL OF THE DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA, That this
resolution may be cited as the “Coalition for Nonprofit Housing & Economic Development 25th
Anniversary Recognition Resolution of 2024”.
Sec. 2. The Council of the District of Columbia recognizes and celebrates the Coalition
for Nonprofit Housing & Economic Development for 25 years of outstanding service to the
District of Columbia, its tireless advocacy for affordable housing and equitable economic
development, and its continued commitment to building a more inclusive and prosperous city for
all residents.
Sec. 3. This resolution shall take effect immediately.
