Aubrey Grant
Mr. Aubrey Grant has been practicing architecture for over 25 years.
The son of an architect and from a large family of architects, Mr. Grant
was exposed to the profession at a very young age. Choosing to follow
the family tradition, he earned a Bachelor of Architecture from Howard
University School of Architecture and Design in 1998.
Mr. Grant started his career at Lehman-Smith McLeish, an award-
winning interior design firm. This position provided him with an
understanding of curating bespoke spaces for high-end clients through
exposure to lighting, AV/IT and acoustics consultants as well as custom
fabrications using premium materials. Seeking to increase his
knowledge and experience in base building architecture, Mr. Grant went on to work at Eric Colbert
& Associates (ECA), a leading multi-family residential architect in Washington DC, where he
spent 13 years. At ECA, Mr. Grant became a project architect and led mid- to large-scale projects
as large as 400,000 square feet.
Mr. Grant’s years as a lead architect has exposed him to a variety of products, construction
typologies and strategic engagements. To this end, he is adept at leading projects of various sizes,
scales and typologies; ranging from wood framed, concrete, steel or hybrid building systems. His
vast portfolio includes over one million square feet of construction valued at over $107,000,000.00
In 2011, Mr. Grant founded Emotive Architecture, PLLC, a District-based architecture firm
focused on design and construction of single-family homes, apartment remodels, and interior
design projects.
A Ward 6 resident, Mr. Grant earned his Bachelor of Architecture from Howard University.
