Dr. David Vitberg
Dr. David Vitberg currently serves as the Interim Medical Director of
the District of Columbia Fire and Emergency Medical Services
Department (FEMS) after being appointed by Mayor Muriel Bowser
to the post of Assistant Medical Director of FEMS in 2023.
Prior to joining the District government, Dr. Vitberg served for 12
years at the Baltimore County Fire Deparment. He was appointed in
2011 as Assistant Medical Director and rose to the role of Deputy
Medical Director.
A Ward 4 resident, Dr. Vitberg earned his Bachelor of Science in Biology and Chemistry from
Brandeis University and his Doctor of Medicine from the State University of New York Upstate
Medical University.
