16 To amend Section 25-723 to allow the ABC Board to extend the hours of operation, sales,
17 service, and consumption of alcoholic beverages for sporting events or any events that the
18 Board deems appropriate for licensees registered with the Board to participate in the
19 extension of hours program.

21 BE IT ENACTED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA, That this
22 act may be cited as the “On-Premises and On-Site Extended Hours Program Amendment Act of
23 2024”.
24 Sec. 2. Section 25-723 of the District of Columbia Official Code is amended as follows:
25 (1) Subsection (c-1) is amended as follows:
26 (A) Paragraph (1) is amended by striking the phrase “during postseason games in
27 which a District professional sports team is a participant” and inserting the phrase “for sporting
28 events or any events that the Board deems appropriate” in its place.
29 (B) Paragraph (2) is amended to read as follows:
30 “(2) If the Board extends the hours of operation, sales, service, and consumption of
31 alcoholic beverages pursuant to paragraph (1) of this subsection, a licensee registered with the

32 Board in the extension of hours program under subsection (c) of this section may sell, serve, and
33 allow the consumption of alcoholic beverages until 4 a.m. and operate 24 hours a day.”
34 (C) Paragraph (5) is repealed.
35 Sec. 3. Fiscal impact statement.
36 The Council adopts the fiscal impact statement in the committee report as the fiscal
37 impact statement required by section 4a of the General Legislative Procedures Act of 1975,
38 approved October 16, 2006 (120 Stat. 2038; D.C. Official Code § 1-301.47a).
39 Sec. 4. Effective date.
40 This act shall take effect following approval by the Mayor (or in the event of veto by the
41 Mayor, action by the Council to override the veto) and a 30-day period of Congressional review
42 as provided in section 602(c)(1) of the District of Columbia Home Rule Act, approved December
43 24, 1973 (87 Stat. 813; D.C. Code § 1-206(c)(1)).
