SUMMARY of QUALIFICATIONS
Competent and skilled Master Electrician with over Thirty-Seven (37) years of
experience as an electrician, Electrical Foreman, Estimator and Project Manager with The
International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) Local #26. In addition, I am the
first female Electrical Inspector, Electrical Supervisor with The District of Columbia
Department of Consumer & Regulatory Affairs (DCRA), DC Boards & Commissions: I
am the first female to serve on The Board of Industrial Trades, Certified College
Electrical Adjunct Instructor. Service areas include government (Federal and State),
serving as technical consultant/advisor, and Project Manager for Capital Renewal
Projects. I am thoroughly knowledgeable in electrical theory, methodologies, application,
systems, compliance officer code regulations and requirements. Abreast and
knowledgeable in the National Electrical Code, ICC & IBC Codes, and the District of
Columbia Building Codes; DCMR Titles 12 and 14. I am gifted and highly motivated
driven manager with exceptional leadership, coaching, interpersonal, and communication

SCOPE OF EMPLOYMENT, EXPERTISE and ACCOMPLISHMENTS
• TRULITE Electrical Services, LLC 2007- Present
President of the highly regarded TRULITE Electrical Services, LLC (TRULITE) – a firm
started in 1998. By first listening closely to what my clients want to achieve, my firm
have earned a reputation for outstanding customer service and cost-efficient solutions. In
addition, on a yearly basis my company would perform a “SWAT Analysis” of
TRULITE with the participation of TRULITE’S Staffing Team as a measuring vehicle to
ensure success. I possess outstanding technical competence and exceptional
interpersonal skills in operations and Project Management for Capital Projects have
generated a long list of diverse – and prestigious –customers who are eager to provide
references and/or endorse the quality of my work. A partial list includes The Deputy
Mayor’s Office for Planning & Economic Development; District of Columbia
Department of General Services; Wesley Theological Seminary, District of Columbia
Housing Authority; District of Columbia Government Department of Consumer and

• American University Oct. 2016-May2020
I currently serve as American University’s Master Electrician, Compliance Manager and
Electrical Inspector for Energy and Engineering and Electrical and Life Safety
Department, I perform Electrical/Construction Inspections, supervise contractors, and
provide technical oversight for the maintenance and operation of the university’s
Electrical and Fire Life Safety Systems to ensure safe, reliable and efficient service to
campus and ensuring compliance implementing the university’s Design and Construction
Standards and all applicable codes and regulations.
I maintain associated permits and documentation demonstrating training and compliance.
As Master Electrician, I also, provide technical education and guidance to inhouse
electricians, alarm technician, and related contractors and produces training guides.
Prepares Daily Activity Reports of work progress, conditions with photos. I direct and
manage recommendations and appropriate changes accordingly to ensure compliance and
completion of projects within the allotted time constraints.
As Compliance Manager, I identify and investigate safety concerns if any, reliability and
sustainability throughout the duration of projects.
Housing Inspection Supervisor – District of Columbia Housing Authority-
HUD 2006 to 2007
• I supervised and oversaw the daily operations of the Housing Choice Voucher
Program Inspections Department. My duties consist of analyzing work practices of
the 10 Housing Inspectors I supervised during my tenure with the agency. Producing
weekly and monthly reports of scheduled inspections to ensure inspection deadlines
were being met within the time frame mandated by HUD Regulation. Conducted
weekly standing team building staff meetings with inspectors to ensure uniformity of
HUD Quality Standard Inspections. Conducted training sessions with staff; to assist with
interpretation and use of the National Electrical Code, DCMR Titles 12 and 14 Codes in
addition to the HUD Quality Standards Code.
Chief Electrical Supervisor Inspector – District of Columbia Department of
Consumer and Regulatory Affairs
2002 - 2006
• Oversaw the daily operations of the Electrical Inspections Branch and served as the
department’s electrical expert and technical advisor. As Electrical Manager, I
implemented new innovative ideologies regarding budgetary constraints within the
department. In addition, I was responsible for management analysis, system
administration, personnel management, and organizational development. I analyzed
and researched other jurisdictions keeping up with trends of other Electrical
Inspections Industry standards and business practices. Developing long range work

plans and schedules for employees, assuring implementation of goals and objectives
were in alignment with the Agency. Moreover, I planned the activities of the branch,
assigned work schedules, and interpret Building Code Regulations and Standards;
review Architectural Drawings assist contractors with revisions as deemed necessary
to meet Building Code and Compliance Regulations. I analyzed existing work
methods and work schedules to ensure maximum efficiency and effectiveness. I
worked closely with Structural, Electrical and Plumbing Engineers. Read and review
Blueprint and schematic Drawings of Construction, Plumbing, Mechanical and
Electrical from begin to end of Construction Projects. Developed and implemented
new standard operating procedures for the Electrical Inspections Department.
• Trained and developed staff to full capabilities.
• Makes determinations and prepares reports as to whether the provisions of the District
of Columbia Electrical Code, the National Electrical Code, and other related
regulations have been met.
• Conducted Quality Control Inspections of concealment and final inspections of
permanent wiring prior to and after concealment to ensure that installation methods
conform to current jurisdictional code.
• Establishes rapport and harmonious relationship with customers, suppliers, and
building contractors. I was chosen to participate with the various District of
Columbia Government Agencies for Team Inspections bridging gaps and cross-
training of the agencies ensuring uniformity of policies and procedures.
• Coordinates inspection activities with local electric power supplier, Potomac Electric
Power Company (PEPCO).
• Designed and implemented much needed safety measures and training in the handling of
hazardous materials during electrical inspections.

Tanya D. Lewis
Ms. Tanya D. Lewis is a TRULITE Electrical Services, LLC President
and Master Electrician and a current member of the Board of Industrial
Trades.
Ms. Lewis possesses over 37 years of experience in the electrical
industry. Ms. Lewis has built a strong reputation for cost-effective
electrical solutions and outstanding customer service. In her current
roles, Ms. Lewis leverages her technical competence and capital
project management skills to service clients in the public and private
sectors. Ms. Lewis is a former American University Master Electrician,
Compliance Manager, and Electrical Inspector for the Energy and
Engineering and the Electrical and Life Safety Department, where she ensured compliance in
implementing the university’s Design and Construction Standards codes and regulations. Ms.
Lewis previously served as the District of Columbia Housing Authority Housing Inspector
Supervisor and the Department of Consumer and Regulatory Affairs Chief Electrical Supervisor
Inspector. In addition, Ms. Lewis is the first woman to serve as Electrical Inspector and Electrical
Supervisor with DCRA and on the Board of Industrial Trades.
A Ward 7 resident, Ms. Lewis earned an Associate Degree in Business Management from
Southeastern University as well as a Project Management certification.
