16 RESOLVED, BY THE COUNCIL OF THE DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA, That this
17 resolution may be cited as the "Commission on Poverty Kavin Coates Confirmation Resolution
18 of 2023 ".

20 Sec. 2. The Council of the District of Columbia confirms the appointment of:

27 as the Ward 7 representative member of the Commission on Poverty, pursuant to section 102 of
28 the Commission on Poverty Establishment Amendment Act of 2020, effective March 16, 2021
29 (D.C. Law 23-184; D.C. Official Code § 3-641.02), for a term to end three years from the date of
30 confirmation.
31 Sec. 3. The Council of the District of Columbia shall transmit a copy of this resolution,
32 upon its adoption, to the nominee and to the Office of the Mayor.
33 Sec. 4. This resolution shall take effect immediately.

Kavin Coates
Kavin Coates is an organizer and adovcate currently serving as
an organizer of the Annual Vigil for the People for Fairness
Coalition.
Since 2019, Mr. Coates has been involved with the National
Alliance to End Homelessness and participated in Project
Community Connect with the United Way NCA in 2019. Mr.
Coates served on the Community Engagement Working Group
with the Interagency Council on Homelessness in 2022.
Mr. Coates is a Ward 7 resident.
