A CEREMONAL RESOLUTION
25-107
IN THE COUNCIL OF THE DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA
September 19, 2023
To recognize and honor Boys Town DC for 30 years of service to their community by providing
life-changing services to improve the lives of more than 15,000 boys and girls in the District of
Columbia.
WHEREAS, Boys Town assists families in getting a on a positive path to creating a
healthy home environment to raise their children;
WHEREAS, Boys Town DC opened in October 1993 and operated foster care, family
home residential, and short term emergency shelter services;
WHEREAS, in 2012 Boys Town DC expanded to support families in their homes, and in
2015 added outpatient behavioral health services to provide an integrated approach to care and
treatment;
WHEREAS, Boys Town has helped approximately 6,000 families and heals more than
1,500 children every year;
WHEREAS, Boys Town DC’s care coordination services connect families to basic local
resources such as food, shelter, clothing, and jobs;
WHEREAS, Boys Town DC meets the unique needs of each youth and family through
holistic, research-driven programs and services such as the Successful Futures workforce
development program, parenting guides on issues such as behavioral disorders, parenting
through crisis, and parenting teens, outpatient services for families with children experiencing
social or emotional, academic, or behavioral concerns;
WHEREAS, Boys Town DC is a partner in the Mayor’s Truancy Reduction Initiative and
is funded in part by the Office of Victim Services and Justice Grants;
WHEREAS, Boys Town DC created and operates the Boys Town Washington DC
Behavioral Health Clinic Endowment Fund which provides financial support to help the sustain
the Clinic’s long-term viability;

WHEREAS, Boys Town DC maintains a 12-acre campus in North Michigan Park in
Ward 5; and
WHEREAS, in 2023 Boys Town DC celebrates their 30th anniversary and continues to
provide a safe and stable foundation for thousands of young people in the DC area who have
experienced hardship, trauma, and adversity.
RESOLVED, BY THE COUNCIL OF THE DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA, That this
resolution may be cited as the “Boys Town DC Recognition Resolution of 2023”.
Sec. 2. The Council of the District of Columbia honors recognizes the extensive
contributions of Boys Town DC to the community and expresses deep gratitude for its ongoing
dedication to it important work in this, its thirtieth year.
Sec. 3. This resolution shall take effect immediately.
