I was involved with a multidisciplinary study to evaluate and improve breast cancer
therapeutics. I was focused on the discovery phase of the investigation of breast
cancer oncogenes "Amplified in Breast" AIB-1 and AIB-2, similar to the oncogenes
BRCA-1 and BRCA-2. The goal of the research project was to identify the molecular
mechanisms of the genes and possible uses of biologic treatments. I applied gene
expression methodologies to identify proteins and their level of expression in human
breast cancer cell lines. Our investigational team also used cDNA microarray
technology.
