Dr. Cheryl Williams, MD
Dr. Cheryl R. Williams is a retired pediatrician and a current member
of the District of Columbia Child Fatality Review Committee, and also
a former Mayoral appointee to the District of Columbia Board of
Medicine, which she served on for over 6 years.
Dr. Williams served the citizens of the District of Columbia for more
than 23 years as a physician in its public health system. She was a
Supervisory Medical Officer for the District of Columbia Community
and School Health Program. Prior to her retirement in 2012, she was
the District of Columbia Child and Family Services Agency (CFSA) Deputy Director for the
Office of Clinical Practice. There, she oversaw all medical matters related to the well-being of
foster children in the District of Columbia. Her vision led to the creation of CFSA's on-site
Medicaid reimbursable medical clinic where nurse practitioners evaluated children upon both
their entering and exiting the foster care umbrella, and each child of special needs was assigned a
dedicated registered nurse. This combination of a nurse and CFSA social work team, ensured
the administration of appropriate, specialized care of a child throughout their CFSA tenure.
In 2017, Dr. Williams opened Herban Medical Options--a practice dedicated to the proper
medical administration of cannabis.
Dr. Williams is a genuine public health physician who has lived in the Historic DC Kingman
Park neighborhood for over 37 years. Her concern for the good health of DC's families and
children has not waned.
A Ward 6 resident, Dr. Williams received a Bachelor of Science in Zoology from Howard
University and a Doctor of Medicine from Case Western Reserve University College of
Medicine.
