20 To officially redesignate, on an emergency basis, Mount Vernon Place, N.W. between 7th Street
21 N.W. and 9th Street, N.W., as Allen Y. Lew Place, N.W.

23 BE IT ENACTED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA, That this
24 act may be cited as the “Allen Y. Lew Place Designation Emergency Act of 2023”.
25 Sec. 2. Pursuant to sections 401, 402(4), and notwithstanding section 421, of the Street
26 and Alley Closing and Acquisition Procedures Act of 1982, effective March 10, 1983 (D.C. Law
27 4-201; D.C. Official Code §§ 9-204.01, 9-204.02(4), and 9-204.21), the Council officially
28 redesignates Mount Vernon Place, N.W. between 7th Street N.W. and 9th Street, N.W, as “Allen
29 Y. Lew Place, N.W”.
30 Sec. 3. Fiscal impact statement.
31 The Council adopts the fiscal impact statement of the Budget Director as the fiscal impact
32 statement required by section 4a of the General Legislative Procedures Act of 1975, approved
33 October 16, 2006 (120 Stat. 2038; D.C. Official Code § 1-301.47a).
34 Sec. 4. Effective date.

35 This act shall take effect following approval by the Mayor (or in the event of veto by the
36 Mayor, action by the Council to override the veto), and shall remain in effect for no longer than
37 90 days, as provided for emergency acts of the Council of the District of Columbia in section
38 412(a) of the District of Columbia Home Rule Act, approved December 24, 1973 (87 Stat. 788;
39 D.C. Official Code § 1-204.12(a)).
