RESOLVED, BY THE COUNCIL OF THE DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA, That this
resolution may be cited as the Not-For-Profit Hospital Corporation BoardofDirectors Eydie
Whittington Confirmation Resolution of 2020.
Sec. 2. The Council of the District of Columbia confirms the appointment of:

Ward Eight Councilmember, Council of the District of Columbia, Washington, DC
* Served as one of the elected members of the central and chief policy-making
body of elected official in the District of Columbia and tasked with the mission of
improving the lives of residents. Represented Ward Eight and the city in general
making laws, providing oversight of multiple governmental agencies,
commissions, boards, and other instruments of government, Reviewed the
performance of governmental agencies and programs, to ensure that they were
serving their established purposes and operation under pertinent regulations and
budget targets. Along with colleagues, developed annual budgets through
oversight hearings and legislative committees tasked with specific agencies
budgets.
ACCOMPLISHMENTS
Legislative Affairs
* Responsible for introducing legislation for the The Drug Paraphernalia
Amendment Act of 1995, and Automatic Traffic Enforcement Act. Guided
successful lobbying efforts that resulted in minimizing the number of liquor
stores that were allowed in Ward 8 neighborhoods. Instrumental in closing
down an open drug market in Ward 8.
Economic Development
* Negotiated and successfully established the opening of a branch of Crestar
Bank and Athletic Foot Store in Ward 8. Aggressively sought corporate
funding sources and volunteers for training and workshops for Ward 8
constituents. Developed strategies for and coordinated fund-raising activities
on behalf of Ward 8 to enhance economic development. Developed joint
partnership with local and national corporations to increase their presence in
the Ward 8 community.

Eydie Whittington
Ms. Eydie Whittington is a Restorative Justice Facilitator for the Court
Services and Offender Supervision Agency (CSOSA) and a Social
Worker for the DCSuperior Court Visitation Center in Washington, DC.
Ms. Whittington also served as a Ward 8 Councilmember for the Council
ofthe District ofColumbia from 1995 to 1997.
Ms. Whittington has a long history in legislative affairs, economic
development, and community work for the benefit of the District of
Columbia. As a Councilmember, she represented Ward 8 and the city
through making laws, providing oversight of multiple government
agencies & commissions, and developed annual budgets for agencies.
She is responsible for introducing multiple important piecesoflegislation in the District towards
the endofthe 1990s, including the Automatic Traffic Enforcement Act which was commended
by Mayor Anthony Williams and Chief of Police William Ramsey. in her years since, she has
committed herself to providing District residents with counseling, vocational employment, career
coaching, and program monitoring as a social services professional.
A Ward 8 resident, Ms. Whittington holds a BachelorofArts in Human Relations and a Master of
Arts in Community Counseling from Trinity College in Washington DC.
